4. Web Logging

Goals:
Learn the organization and planning skills needed to post thoughtful text to a blog site.

Enduring understandings:
Planning a post can result in a thoughtful comment or observation.
It is important to communicate one’s ideas in a responsible and respectful manner.
What one posts on a website is shared with whomever has Internet access and may or may not be password protected.

Activities:
Write a paragraph about 3rd Grade Visual Arts. You might describe:
• Something you have made
• A topic we have studied
• A process you have used
• A material with which you have worked

Type this paragraph into a Microsoft Word document and transfer it (cut and paste) to our blog site

Upload text and images to the blogsite

Follow-up activities:
• Add more writing and images to the blogsite (independently or with a friend)
• Look at, review, analyze, and critique our blog site and selected others
• Discuss what we want on our blog and make note of it
• Look at the Visual Arts web pages at http://www.manzanodayschool.org/webpages/anash/
and review, analyze, and critique what we see then discuss what we want we would like to have on our web pages and make note of it

Vocabulary:
Blog – short for web log, a series of journal-like entries made on a website like this one
